CLASS:
FSS - Factory Stock Show
PART A - OWNERSHIP:
My car is a 1987 Buick Regal Grand
National. Mileage is 16,5xx. This is original mileage. 2 owner GN. The
GN has had a healthy life with 2 loving owners. The GN was purchased new
in December 1987 from Koester Buick in Decatur, Illinois. When purchased
there was snow on the ground so Jim let the car sit on the showroom
floor for 2 weeks until the weather broke. Then brought the car home.
Jim (the original owner) and I have known each other for over 20 years.
He is a retired school teacher and old time car owner. He drove the car
to church and to car shows for the last 18 years. The car did make trips
to Bowling Green, Michigan, and Buicks at Bristol. He told me, he only
got caught in the rain 3 times. While Jim owned the GN he did some
modifications. Not to take away the sinister look of the car. He also
kept the car stored correctly in the winter.
Now, I bought the GN in December of
2005 from Jim and Betty. I stopped by to trick or treat with my kids in
October 2005 and asked Jim if he was ready to sell the GN as I always
did. This time he said YES. Him and Betty had discussed it and they were
glad I stopped because they wanted me to have the GN. They knew how much
I like these cars. I have owned a 84 GN, 87 Turbo T, 87 GN, and 89 Turbo
Trans Am. But never a car of this clean and not a daily driver. This GN
is not a daily driver. Once the deal was done, Jim agreed to give me all
his memorabilia that he has collected over the years. Along with all the
original paper work that came with the GN new. Window sticker, owners
manual, etc. It has been stored under a cover in my garage since
December 2005. I have never washed it since I bought it from Jim. I just
wipe it down with a soft cloth. I have showed the car 7 times this year.
6 firsts and 1 second place trophy. I won the Illinois Sec. of State car
show in my class. There were many cars in my class in that show,
including a 87 GN with 4,000 miles. And my GN won. I have really done
nothing to the GN since I bought it from Jim. Just keep it clean. I did
change the hood struts and the wastegate hoses. This is a excellent
example of a 1987 Buick GN. Not only because it is mine but at car shows
people are amazed at the cars show ability. It is now becoming a eye
catcher to collectors all over the world. At the Sec. of State car show
that included 400 plus cars and thousands of spectators, I received
numerous comments and positive feedback about this GN.
PART B -MOTOR:
The motor is Original Stock.
Bolt on parts are Air Filter, fuel pressure, regulator, new plugs and
wires, and breather filter. I have all the original parts that came off
the car in my garage. Even plugs and wires. Car has original miles at
16,5xx. Never opened or rebuilt. AC has been changed to R134. Battery
has been replaced.
PART C - TRANNY:
Transmission -- Original stock
-- Excellent shifts.
PART D - SUSPENSION: Brakes,
Suspension, Wheels and Tires
Brakes -- Original Stock
Suspension -- Original
Stock
Wheels -- Front Original Stock. Rear Wheels --
Original Stock but widened 2 inches
Tires -- Front Original Stock Goodyear Eagle GT 19 years old.
Rear are Hoosier Quik Time Street Tires. I do have the original rear
tires in my garage.
PART E - BODY & PAINT:
Body, Paint -- body is straight with no dings or dents. Original paint,
never repainted. Jim was offered a repaint from the factory but decided
to have the car ziebarted instead. Interior -- Original stock. Floor
mats are not original, but I do have the original floor mats. In the
console there are 2 gauges, Turbo and Temp. Everything else is stock.
PART F - PERFORMANCE: This car
is quicker than stock. The exhaust is 2.5 inch for better flow and
better sound. The tail pipes exit at the stock location. It is a show
car not a race car
PART F - OTHER:
The bottles in the engine compartment are painted
black and the rear seat that faces the trunk is painted black. The wider
rear wheels and tires make the car look mean.
